On Christmas Eve afternoon, as the sun sets, we settle in front of the fire as a family, and each open a new book that we've chosen especially for this occasion. Anything goes, from graphic novels, through non-fiction, to classics that we've read before and can't resist, but I usually try to find something that encapsulates the season and sets the mood for the days ahead, and what better way to share our family tradition with you all, than by adding yarn!

This year's yarn box is inspired by one of my favourite books. The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey is set in Alaska in the 1920's and tells the spell-binding tale of Jack & Mabel, struggling through their first winter homesteading in their brutal new surroundings. As the season's first snowfall settles around them they build a snow child but the next morning it has gone, and they meet a beautiful child called Faina, accompanied by a red fox...

Designed to be opened when you need a quiet few moments to regroup and find your seasonal good sprits in the run-up to the big day, this indulgent yarn box will contain a copy of The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey, an indulgent scented candle, a beautiful tree decoration, and *either* three skeins of yarn dyed to create a fluid fade, *or* a five-skein (100g) mini-skein set inspired by this wonderful wintery tale.
