Throughout 2025 we're creating capsule collections of non-superwash yarn in limited palettes inspired by nature.

~ high summer ~ comprises six shades, dyed on two yarn bases:

moor | fingering/4ply is a 2-ply fingering weight yarn spun from non-superwash 20.5 micron merino wool. The combination of the tight 2ply twist, the micron count, and the lack of superwash treatment makes this merino much less prone to pilling/fuzzing than many merino yarns. It has a lovely woolly 'bite' while still being soft enough to wear next to the skin (in our opinion!) Perfect for lightweight sweaters and accessories... Shades are softly matte on this yarn base with less tonal variation than the same shades on nest | fingering

nest | fingering is a blend of 50% silk and 50% non-superwash merino. It has a glorious sheen and a relaxed twist, so drapes perfectly for stunning shawls, summer tees, and sweaters and can also be held alongside a fluffy yarn to create a truly luxurious, fabulously warm fabric. This yarn base creates shades with lots of tonal variation and nuance.

We dyed six shades inspired by bleached-blonde hay meadows, worn terracotta tiles, burnished butterfly wings, and fading wildflowers...

ash ~ a subtle pale grey. Just a hint of warmth, this is a perfect neutral.

smoke ~ dusky blue grey with gorgeous tonal variation in the nest | fingering skeins

haze ~ very pale apricot pink, the colour of freshly bisque-fired earthenware clay...

fire ~ a warm burnished copper orange; Comma butterflies, terracotta floor tiles, summer sunrises...

hay ~ it's hard to describe this shade but I'm going with 'mucky lichen'; zingy chartreuse, with warm lime undertones, and soft lemon highlights. The colour of a hay meadow waiting to be cut!

barley ~ soft biscuit with gold undertones . Pale silvery-beige highlights on nest | fingering and a lovely soft matte on moor | fingering...

Non-superwash yarn can require a little more thought and attention to care but the rewards are plentiful! Fibres that haven't been superwash treated tend to have more memory, bite, and structural interest, and the lack of chemical/processing intervention makes them better for the environment.

Alongside the ready-to-ship yarn, we've made all the shades available dyed-to-order, so you can purchase just what you like, in the exact quantities you need, for whatever project you have in mind. Dyed-to-order skeins will be dispatched within 10 working days. We will never mix dye batches without consulting you first, and we'll always make sure that if you're ordering moor | fingering/4ply and nest | fingering in the same shade that they're dyed side-by-side...
