When your partner is in his studio creating beautiful, functional pottery, I guess it’s inevitable that the colours and textures will seep into your work space too! Chris has been making gorgeous vases inspired by a Victorian marmalade jar that we dug up from behind the wood shed in our previous house. It's been used to hold everything from wild flower posies to paintbrushes over the years, and now it's been the inspiration for a new form, also perfect for anything from posies to paintbrushes! As well as the vases, Chris continues to develop his glaze combinations for coffee/tea cups and the warm caramel tones of his current favourite were just too tempting to resist...

Two shades emerged from the dye pots inspired by Chris's glazes; a ~fluid~ combination of slate blue, honey, caramel and woody charcoal and a ~flash~ shade that uses the same tones in a more striking saturated way. Both are dyed on hoo | sock, our favourite upcycled superwash merino/nylon blend, so if you're partial to knitting socks and sipping tea (or coffee) you could find yourself very stylishly coordinated! Head over to Chris's shop to see the cups and vases.

We use professional acid dyes with good light and wash fastness and do our best to exhaust every dye bath and reuse water wherever possible to reduce any further environmental impact. Occasionally a small amount of 'loose' dye may remain in the yarn after rinsing (most likely with deeply saturated shades) and we always recommend hand washing in very cool water and pre-washing your yarn separately if you are intending to mix light and dark shades in a single garment/project.

We recommend hand washing your finished projects in cool water to preserve the vibrancy of the dye and, as with all small-batch, hand-dyed yarn that doesn't have dye lots, we also recommend knitting alternate rows from two skeins when working on larger projects to avoid noticeable changes between skeins.
