Our divine Mohair/Silk blend is now available in mini-skein form, dyed in our favourite shades to add a touch of glorious sheen and fluffy halo wherever you need it.
We list Bray as a lace weight yarn based on yardage but the halo makes it super versatile and it will make a dense fabric knit at a tight gauge or a gorgeous open fabric, with a glorious airy feel knit more loosely. Hold it alongside a smooth laceweight yarn or with a 4ply (sock weight) yarn to create amazing colour effects and cosy, yet airy fabrics for shawls and sweaters...
We kettle dye Bray in small batches. Each skein is unique and most colourways are 'one of a kind' (so if you see something that steals your heart grab it while you can!)
As with all small-batch, hand-dyed yarn that doesn't have dye lots, we also recommend knitting alternate rows from two skeins when working on larger projects to avoid noticeable changes between skeins.
We use professional acid dyes. We do our best to exhaust every dye bath and to reuse water wherever possible to reduce any further environmental impact. Occasionally a small amount of 'loose' dye may remain in the yarn after rinsing (most likely with deeply saturated shades) and we always recommend hand washing in very cool water and pre-washing your yarn separately if you are intending to mix light and dark shades in a single garment/project.
