This Thing of Paper
This ticks all our boxes...
Backed initially by an innovative and successful Kickstarter campaign, Karie set out, in This Thing of Paper, to explore the relationships and historical connections between words, books and knitting. The result is a truly inspiring collection of eleven knitting patterns that examine what it means to make things and the connections between knitting and reading; between making and manuscripts.
Accompanying the patterns is a series of essays that give the reader a unique insight not only into the design process but the myriad relationships between knitting and reading/writing that the author revealed through her research. From monasteries to contemporary libraries, from vellum to woodcuts, Karie makes connections between the words we love to read and the knits we love to make.
Patterns include; a sweater, two cardigans, shawls, mitts, hats and more. All presented in Karie's signature style and supported by beautiful photography.
Each copy contains a unique Ravelry download code.
