Winter woollies and more...

Posted by Anj Medhurst on

It seems Winter has well and truly reached us this week and the woolly jumpers are doing their job, keeping out the northerly breeze that's been accompanying the morning dog walks. I've cast on the lovely Bindrune cardigan from issue 23 of pompom quarterly

in these muted Léttlopi shades. The dark peaty black for the main, muted deep green for the cuffs and the light ash for the contrast...

(Light Ash Heather, Black Sheep Heather & Rough Sea)

I did start off with an orange contrast (predictable, me?) but decided after half a sleeve that it was just a little but too 'Starskey & Hutch' so went back to the drawing board (the Lopi stock room of deliciousness) and chose something more muted but possibly more wearable in the long run... I'll be sure to share progress over on Instagram.

We're still recovering from rolling out our new web site, albeit quietly, a week or so ago. I find it best to do these things with little fanfare, just settle into the technological change slowly, so we can catch the little errors and odd things that we hadn't considered before actually using it 'in the line of fire' so to speak! We hope you like it; we know some of the lovely features we had on our previous site are missing ('view by colour' and wishlists are the two most notable ones I think) and we are busy behind the scenes finding ways to work these features, or similar, back into the site.

We snuck past 'Black Friday' and 'Cyber Monday' too. I know we are in the business of 'selling' - and if we don't, we won't be for long! - but somehow this rampant consumerism feels wrong on lots of levels so we prefer to let the crowds battle it out elsewhere...

Having said that, we've taken part in 'Small Business Saturday' for the past couple of years. It feels right to embrace the promotion of the 'indie' culture that makes this woolly world such a nice place to do business and this is a good showcase for many of the small businesses that we love to shop with too.

So, we'll be sending out a newsletter on Friday to show off some lovely new books that have arrived this week and to offer a discount code for this Saturday (2nd December) by way of a small thank you, to you, our lovely customers, without whom, we would literally not exist!

If your'e not already on our mailing list, you can sign up at the bottom of our home page. If you signed up via the old web site, don't worry, you'll get our periodical newsletters as always...
